My Four-Step Process for Dealing with Stress...

ree

Life is hard. We can all definitely agree on that. And in the stressful moments when everything is rushing at you, hitting you like a tidal wave full of debris, it is so hard to take a step back and just process. However, that is exactly what we should do.

Recently, a friend of mine was feeling overwhelmed about her children, her job, and life in general. So, considering that it is so much easier to give advice rather than take it, I shared the following plan with her.

First, yeah, take a breath and step back for a moment. Peace. Be still. Mark 4:39

Second, remind yourself whose you are. But now, thus says the Lord, your Creator, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine! Is 43:1

Third, remind yourself who HE is. Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O Lord, and You exalt Yourself as head over all. 1 Chron 29:11

Finally, stand on the right scripture or scriptures. And say them out loud. Here is my favorite: And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Rom 8:28

So, here is some homework for ya. Go back through the steps above and pick out your own verses for each one. Believe me, there are a ton! Call it your Emergency Stress Management Plan! I think I’m going to print this out and pin it to the wall. I’m no genius, but this is darn good advice if I do say so myself. What do y’all think?
